FRED SMITH AND LIZ FRENCHAM

The Frencham-Smith duo has been described

as delicious, emotionally intelligent and

entrancing folk music for the 21st century.

Blending Liz Frencham’s double bass and

voice with the songwriting and guitar work of

Fred Smith, they play songs rich in thought,

warmth and humour.

songwriter…Frencham has a voice with the

appeal, emotional honesty and clarity of

someone like Shawn Colvin…There is no

other folk duo in Australia which even comes

FUNKS OF FUSION

Funks of Fusion are a recently formed hybrid

of funk, hip hop and jazz, featuring the

cultural intelligence and hard hitting rap

vocals of Warren Foster Snr & Jnr. Father and

son, their dynamic grooves lead a band of

local musos including Russel Cook and Tom

Roberts from zany Melbourne Jazz explosion,

Bachelors from Prague. Don’t miss this wild

fusion of jaded rockers, young hopefuls and

funky truth.

Gobsmacked! are troubadours and storytellers

GUITARAMA

Guitarama is a six piece guitar ensemble

from SE NSW with strong Latin American

influences in their playing. Their concert at

this year’s Festival will be a launch for their

new CD, consisting of eight original tunes.

IVY LUCILLE

Ivy Lucille is a wild bohemian artiste with

many a tale to tell. Taking you on a whimsical

journey through the valleys and peaks of

theatrical mystique, Ivy’s lyrical wit and voice

sublime will steer you to another place and

time. From angelic, sweet, jazzy tones to

crazed, hysterical madness, Ivy has boldly

crafted her own unique style which she

performs on piano and accordion. Ivy Lucille

has been entertaining fans along the east

coast of Australia for the past eight years.

She is currently working on her new album

and is collaborating on a quirky new cabaret

TV series.

JOEL DEAVES

Joel Deaves is an up and coming singer-

songwriter from Nowra. His catchy,

meaningful songs and strong, emotive voice

will ensure him a place on the Australian

music scene for years to come.

JOSHUA WELLINGTON

Joshua is a singer songwriter from the far

south coast. Inspired by the beautiful, wild

bushland of his home, this solo performer

uses guitar loops to create a full, folk blues

sound.

KIRSTY BROMLEY (UK)

Kirsty is a young contemporary folk singer

from Sheffield, England who draws upon

a wide range of traditional music. She has

a most disarmingly transparent voice, but

also the uncanny and beautiful knack of

drawing attention to the song rather than

the messenger.

“A singer of songs of social

justice, traditional songs and songs from

the heart. Her voice is effortless yet stirring,

at times ethereal but always earthy and

with strong roots. Musical and beguiling.”

Nancy Kerr). Kirsty is also an accomplished

dancer and has travelled the world teaching

rapper, longsword and Cotswold traditional

dances. She enjoys encouraging the younger

generations to get involved and to keep the

folk tradition alive.

LATVIAN GEARBOX OVERDRIVE

Dust off your space boots for some power folk

rock about Latvian Navahos, Frankenstein

superfreaks and shield maidens on the lunatic

fringe. There’s impresario Andy “The Maestro”

Zarins at the helm as lead singer and

guitarist, go-go-gadget Tabitha “Cherylnoble”

Bilaniwskyj on bass and saxophone, Bettina

Richter (aka Beryl Bairnsdale) on vocals and

keys and Mark “Latvian Navaho” Bichard on

the drums. With a twist of psychobilly and

a pinch of Ziggy Stardust, Latvian Gearbox

Overdrive is a multi- storey Winnebago of

surprises that will get you dancing and

laughing long into the night, providing fresh

fuel on a lonely highway.
